Entry rules depend on your passport. Indonesia’s e-visa system lists a 30-day electronic visa on arrival for eligible travellers, extendable once, and Bali charges a Rp150,000 tourist levy. Over one to three months, Bali offers more ways to lower the average through monthly rooms, local warungs, coworking memberships, and a routine in one area. Phuket can work long term around Rawai or Phuket Town, but resort pricing and transport add up if you keep living like a visitor.
Paying for a first date is common and usually unremarkable for a foreign man in both places. Funding a new partner’s lifestyle or responding to an early emergency request is different. Keep generosity proportionate to how well you know someone.
Casual is easy on both islands; clarity is the scarce part
